Here are the top-ranked hotels from four of the most respected travel authorities . The American Automobile Association (AAA) and the Mobil Travel Guide both release a yearly list of the nation's best hotels. Also in the hotel rating game are two well-known travel publications: the Hideaway Report, a newsletter, and Condé Nast Traveler magazine. AAA and Mobil utilize roving teams of inspectors, whereas Hideaway and Condé Nast rely on reader polls. To appear on our list, a hotel had to receive top marks from at least two of the four authorities we consulted. Only eight hotels--checked in red--made it on to all four lists.
