Around the World, Cheaply

Want to go around the world? Buy a "round-the-world" ticket from a consolidator or any airline that offers them. They require that you keep traveling in the same direction and that you stay with two or three designated carriers. Otherwise, you have the same flexibility in your itinerary as you would if you had bought individual tickets--and paid a lot more. Prices can reach $6,000, but many consolidators sell them for as low as $1,600.
